The First Disciples Follow Jesus

John 1:35-50 shares the disciples Jesus chose. In verse 35, John shares with two by saying to them, "Look, the Lamb of GOD." Verse 40 shares that Andrew (Simon Peter's brother) was one of the two. He, Andrew, shared, "We have found the Messiah (that being Christ Jesus)" Verse 43 shares that the next day Philip Jesus said to him (Philip), "Follow Me." Verse 45 has Philip finding Nathanael, bringing him to Jesus. Jesus tells Nathanael in verse 51, "I (Jesus) tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open, and the angels of GOD ascending and descending on the Son of Man (Jesus, Himself)"

Behold, The Lamb of GOD

John 1:35-36, "The next day John was there again with  two of his disciples. When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, 'Behold, the Lamb of GOD!' " Jesus is known as the Sacrificial Lamb for mankind's sin. While upon the Cross, He paid the ultimate price for mankind's sin. All each individual need do is accept with humble heart His salvation. "Behold, the Lamb of GOD, Who takes away the sin of the world." (John 1:29) "All who call upon the Name of the LORD will be saved." (Acts 2:21)

Jesus' Baptism

John 1:29, "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, 'Look, the Lamb of GOD who takes away the sin of the world!' " Under the Old Testament covenant, innocent lambs were offered to GOD as a "temporary" sin covering (Leviticus 1:1-17:16). Jesus (GOD in the flesh) became the ultimate sin offering for mankind (Hebrews 7:27). While on the Cross, He paid the penalty for man's sins.

John 1:30, "This is the One I (John) meant when I said, ' A Man Who comes after me has surpassed me because He was before me." When Jesus' mother, Mary went to visit John's mother, Elizabeth, (while He and John were still in their mothers' wombs), John leaped for joy (Luke 1:42-45).

John 1:31, "...the reason I (John) came baptizing with water was that He might be revealed to Israel." John the Baptist had declared Jesus to be The Messiah upon Jesus' baptism when verse 32 occurs...

John 1:32, "John testified, ' I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove that remained on Him (Jesus).'  (Verse 33), John baptized with water, but He (GOD) will baptize you with the Holy Spirit. (Verse 34), I (John) have seen and I testify that He (Jesus) is the Son of GOD."  Here is the Presence of Two of the Three in the Godhead, Son and Holy Spirit (GOD the Father being the other.)

Read the Book, Bible! Open your heart to His leading. He will reveal His truths to you in your need for His salvation for you!  

John the Baptist Declares His Mission

The Jewish priest and Levites must have been seeking "The Christ" when John told them he was not "The Christ." They then ask if he was Elijah to which he said he was not. John tells them in verse 23 chapter 1, "I (John) the voice in the desert saying, 'Make straight the way of the LORD.' They then asked why he baptized if he were not Christ, Elijah, or a prophet. Verse 26, "John replied, 'I baptize with water, but He Who comes after me I am unworthy to untie His sandals.'  " Jesus would soon be coming into His ministry which would bring thousands to realize Who He is! Yet, there would still be denial by them concerning the truth of Jesus being their Messiah. "He (Jesus) came to His Own and they received Him not." (John 1:11) This opened the door for the Gentiles Who did recognize His salvation for all who came unto Him for forgiveness of sins. Have you realized your condition for the need of Jesus Christ's salvation for you? There is a time coming when every single person will stand before Him. I pray you stand for your reward and not your eternal judgment of punishment. Know the joy of your salvation in Him by accepting His sacrifice on the Cross for your sins. Grace and Truth Comes Through Jesus Christ

John 1:17-18, "For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has seen GOD, but GOD the One and Only (Jesus) Who is at the Father's side, has made Him known."  Jesus is called GOD! Let His truth through His WORD bring you into His saving grace!

His Own Received Him Not

John 1:10-13, "He (Messiah, Jesus) was in the world, and though the world was made by Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to that which was His own (Jews), but His own did not receive Him. Yet to all (Gentiles now included) who received Him to those who believe in His Name,  He gave the right to become the children of GOD - children not born by natural descent, human decision, or a husband's will, but BORN OF GOD!"

Man is given the opportunity to choose to accept or reject Jesus Christ's salvation.

Hebrews 1:1-2, "In the past GOD spoke to our forefathers (Jewish nation) through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in the last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things and through whom He made the universe."

Hebrews 1:3, "The Son is the radiance of GOD's glory and the exact representation of His Being, sustaining all things by His powerful WORD."  Not only is Jesus the representation of GOD, but He is GOD Himself! Jesus Christ is the complete expression of GOD in a human body! (Bible commentary)

Man is fallen. There is no work of "goodness" that man can do to replace the Love of Christ paying the penalty for our sin. Christ, Himself proclaimed, "I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man (woman) comes to the Father except through Me. If you knew Me, you would know My Father...you do know Him and have seen Him (in seeing Jesus, they saw the Father!)

(John 14:6)" Christ Jesus even speaks of a greater faith than theirs, is the faith of those who believe yet have not seen Him! (John 20:29) Have you seen the Way, the Truth, the Life? Accept Jesus today as your Savior and you will!

My WORD Will Never Pass Away

Matthew 24:35, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My WORD will never pass away."

I Peter 3:10-13, "The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will melt with fervent heat. But in keeping with His promise, we are looking forward to a New Heaven and New Earth, the home of the righteousness." I have shared before, the scientist discovery of every atom having a violent vibrating mesh inside. They don't know what keeps the atom from exploding on its own! I do! GOD Almighty keeps it from exploding. 

Colossians 1:17, "He (GOD) is before all things and in Him all things hold together." One day, His WORD will let loose every single atom in the universe and what an explosion it will be. 

Further mention of the universe passing away is in Revelation 20:11-15, "I saw a great white throne and Him Who was seated on it (Jesus); earth and heaven fled from His Presence. I saw the dead (unbelievers) great and small standing before the throne and the books were opened (which lists every thought, word and deed each person has). Another Book was opened which is the Book of Life. The dead were judged according to what was written in the books. If anyone's name wasn't found in the Book of Life (salvation in Christ Jesus) he/she was thrown into the Lake of Fire."

But there is a joy in knowing your salvation in Christ Jesus! He has paid the penalty for your sin upon the Cross! Repent to Him for your sin and receive His Holy Spirit which will minister to you of the Great Hope of His promise He has given to us, "I go to prepare a place for you and will come again to receive you unto Myself!" (John 14:2)
