Merry Christmas to you

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

No matter the situation of the world, Christ has brought peace and goodwill to the hearts of those who have accepted His salvation. No one can ever take away that Eternal peace that is within us and will in the future take us to the very Presence of Almighty GOD and His Eternal Kingdom.

Christ's Message of Salvation Continues Today

The Deity of Christ entered His created world to bring the free gift of salvation to man. It can't be bought through "good" works, for in Isaiah 64:4 we are told that "...our righteousness (good works) are as filthy rags..." before our Holy GOD. The Apostles shared this message of Christ's free gift of salvation and it holds true to this day.

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true LORD showed to me...

Our Trip to New Orleans, Louisiana before heading back home to Florida

Leaving Texas, we went to Louisiana.

I was surprised to see this large of a city with its population living at sea level (some areas below sea level!)

The famous Bourbon Street can be seen below.

A closer look at Bourbon street shows some of the musicians. Below you can see a drummer playing the different rhythms. Sorry you can't hear the neat beats!

The trolley cars were amazing to watch.

Below you can see one that we rode for some distance.

I enjoyed watching how the driver guided his trolley along its track with the ding, ding and clang, clang of its bell to let other traffic know we were in the right of way.

We were taken through the "French Quarter" where there were so many beautiful homes!

Alice and Jane went out in the evening to walk down Bourbon Street. Brenda and I stayed in our hotel for the walk would be too much for us. We were really tired out!

Before we turned in for the night, we had dinner. I just had to get their Jambalaya, Crayfish pie, filet gumbo! It was delicious!

Leaving Louisiana, we traveled through the tips of Mississippi and Alabama before coming back to our starting point in Florida!
*
Seventeen states in fourteen days, all by the way of traveling in our van. It was all so enjoyable, but as the saying goes, "There's no place like home!"

Back to my visit in Texas

Our visit in Texas was in the city you see below!

Below, The Alamo plays a very important part of Texas history in America.

Mexico's Independence, Texas' Revolution involving the Battle of the Alamo, the Republic of Texas, Texas' joining the United States, joining the Confederacy, and the commercial development into what it is today are just some of the history of this powerful state in America.

"The Alamo's history begins with the arrival of the Spanish explorers in the New World by the early 1500's." (The Alamo by Stephen Ortman)

Upon our visit inside, we were not allowed to take pictures of the inside due to respect for the sanctuary.

Before our visit to The Alamo we passed by this monument called the "Cenotaph: Spirit of Sacrifice" that displayed those brave men that were involved with Texas'  development into what it is today.

This is the city hall as we passed through the town.

While we were at The Alamo we toured the gardens around it. Jane stands under a papaya tree.

The garden was really beautiful.

The shade was very welcoming to Alice and Jane on this hot August day.

No one would want to fall into this cactus patch!

Above are the six flags that have flown over Texas. Many countries wanted to claim this land for their own.

A native to Texas (we have them here in Florida too!) The armadillo is a strange sight to see, but its skin is even stranger to feel! It's tougher than leather, like feeling an automobile tire!

From Texas we headed to Louisiana!

Thank You, LORD, for Your blessings!

"Overflowing with Gratitude"
Taken from Charles Stanley's Daily Bible study 11/28/13

"The meaning of Thanksgiving has changed over the years. The name was given to our national holiday dedicated to thanking GOD for His protection and provision. More recently, though, it has become synonymous with feasting, football, and family. In most homes, GOD probably isn't even mentioned. But for believers, Thanksgiving is not simply a day; it's a lifestyle. In fact, a godly person should be characterized by gratitude.
*
"The apostle Paul teaches how we can become people who overflow with gratefulness in any circumstance. The first step is to appreciate our relationship with Christ. He chose each believer before the foundation of the world (before creation) Ephesians 1:4 and wants us to 'walk in Him' (Col. 2:6). This means acknowledging Jesus as LORD of our life and relying on Him to empower us to obey.
*
"Next, we are to be firmly rooted in Him. This can happen only when we tap into His WORD and draw nourishment from It. Then we'll be like a tree whose roots reach down so deep, that even storms cannot topple it. With this foundation, we can be built up in Christ and increasingly display His character in our attitudes, conduct, and conversations.
*
" Finally, our faith needs to be firmly established. Then we won't fall prey to worldly philosophies and deceptions.
*
" Do you have a grateful spirit, or do you say 'thanks' only when things are going your way? Thankfulness in all situations is possible only when you focus on the truths and promises of GOD's WORD. As you learn to see life from His perspective and acknowledge His loving Lordship, you'll overflow with appreciation."

Our Ventures Through New Mexico intoTexas

We crossed over into New Mexico from Arizona on our way to Texas.
*
The map below shows many of the cities and the particular sites only to this state.

Again, the fabulous rock formations are awesome, not just in shape but the size that pictures can't seem to display!

Amazing how flat some of the tops are. It's as though someone took a chain saw to them!

American version of the "Road Runner." I can't believe how fast these birds can run across the terrain!

As we crossed over into Texas, I couldn't believe how many miles and miles of these huge wind generators were all over the land. The picture doesn't do it justice as to the true size of them.

My favorite picture post card, the Long Horn Bull. Can you imagine how much more the expertise would be for bull riders if these bulls were used instead of the bulls they now use, ha!

My next post will have the fantastic city of San Antonio and the sites we visited!
