Matthew 7:16-19, "Jesus said, ' Watch out for false prophets. By their fruit you will recognize them. Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus by their fruit you will know them.' " This is a parable that shares man being the tree and the fruit (good, bad, or none) being man's works.
Ephesians 2:9, "Salvation is a gift, not of works least anyone should boast." No one can "work" their way to heaven. The "good" works come from the Holy Spirit working through you for His glory. These acts of love will be rewarded by Him in heaven. This is not done on your own accord, but the leading of the Holy Spirit in your life by accepting Jesus' death on the Cross for your sins.
Accept Jesus' free gift of salvation and begin experiencing the Season of Joy in the LORD that lasts all year around. May your Christmas tree remind you of Christ and not man's secular substitute. Bear good fruit by the leading of the Holy Spirit Whom you receive upon salvation. May this Christmas bear much fruit through you.
